Including the Facebook Like button on product detail screens is a no brainer for most merchants. It allows your customers to market your products to their friends. One common mistake merchants make is not specifying the Admin ID (meta property=”fb:admins”). Beyond giving you the merchant access to Facebook Insights (www.facebook.com/insights) is also provides the merchant more control over which image is posted to a Facebook News feed. Without it, Facebook will arbitrarily choose an image on the page and there is a good chance it won’t be your product image. If the Admin ID is present then Facebook scans several other elements on the product page giving your more control over what the new post includes. The Admin ID may be as simple as one of your personal Facebook pages (http://www.facebook.com/adminID) and doesn’t necessarily require the merchant to setup a Facebook Page for their company. For Nexternal Clients, the Facebook Admin ID can be entered here: Settings/Edit Compatible Software/Social Networking Preferences.
