Thanks to Nexternal’s recent SEO update #822 – Storefront Search Engine Options, merchants using Nexternal’s eCommerce platform can now customize the title and meta description that appears in their Mobile Storefront. It is well known that Google often uses those page elements on the search engine results page. By including the term “mobile-friendly” or similar, a mobile user will be more likely to click-through to that page, expecting to see a mobile-friendly representation of information.

Meta information for your Mobile Storefront is slightly different than that of your Standard Storefront. Optimized ‘Mobile Meta’ information should be shorter and more concise:

  • Mobile Titles Tags are usually 40-60 characters in length
  • Mobile Meta Descriptions are normally less than 90 characters.

To optimize your Mobile Storefront visit the Layout section of your Order Management System > click Edit for Mobile Layout > and scroll to the Storefront section. Add the content applicable to your online business and market into the Title Tag field, the Meta Description field, the Image Alt Tag field (if appropriate), and Meta Keywords field.
