Increase sales in your Nexternal store using Automatic Add To Cart Triggers.
Your Nexternal system now includes a powerful sales and marketing tool called Automatic Add To Cart Triggers. What makes this tool so powerful is that that the system can now automatically add a product to the customer’s shopping cart once they meet the trigger condition. This effective tool can improve average order size and customer conversion.
There are four different trigger types available to merchants: Coupon, Category, Product, and QueryString. Lets look at an example of each to further understand how a successful online merchant would use this tool.
Coupon Trigger – It is common for merchants to increase order size by offering a free product if the customer’s order reaches a specific limit. This is very simple to set up and now the free product can be added to the cart automatically. For example, a customer shopping at www.firstfairway.com who enters the coupon FreeTowel will have a British Open Towel automatically added to their cart once they have added $100 worth of products to their cart, which is a fantastic experience for the customer.
Another common promotion is Buy One Get One Free. It is now also simple to have this happen automatically. Once the customer at www.firstfairway.com enters the coupon FreeTees that will be able to buy a package of Access Proslim Tees and have another automatically appear in their cart for free.
In both cases, having free products automatically added to the cart could not be easier. After you set up the coupon with the criteria required for your promotion, edit the product that is going to be added for free and add 1 Automatic Add Trigger. Navigate to the second screen and specify that the Trigger Type is Coupon. If you promotion is Buy One Get One Free, be sure to specify 2 as the Automatic Add Quantity.
With these simple settings your customers are treated to the best possible shopping experience.
Category Trigger – Some merchants sell products that require special fees to be added to the order total. For example, a merchant selling specialty chemicals may need to require a HazMat fee be collected if certain products are included in an order. In this case, the merchant simply needs to create a HazMat line item and then add 1 Automatic Add Trigger and specify that the Trigger Type is Category. Pick the appropriate category in the drop down list and then you are done. Once a product from that category is added to the cart, the HazMat line item will automatically be added.
Product Trigger – This tool works the same way as the Category Trigger, but in this case would be limited to a specific product or products. For example, a ski manufacturer may require that specific bindings be used with a ski in their catalog. The product trigger would automatically add those to the shopping cart once the customer selected their ski.
QueryString – Some merchants will have detailed product pages outside of their online store and/or will send detailed product specific emails to their customers. Now it is easy to have a Buy Now button that will not only take the customer to that product in your store, but will also have that product automatically added to their cart. While advanced users can generate their own query strings, this step is unnecessary since the system provides these URL’s to you in the Product Links section for each product in your system.
These powerful new triggers make is very simple for merchants to run innovative and effective marketing promotions. These tools are only available in the Nexternal.NET platform so if you have not yet upgraded, now is an excellent time to discuss that process with your account executive.
