Many online retailers focus on Google Adwords, Organic SEO, and Email Campaigns to generate traffic. Following are 5 more channels that can help your company create awareness about new products you are selling or major promotions that you are currently offering:

1. YouTube – Did you know the average person spends 15 minutes per day on YouTube? (stats from http://www.viralblog.com/researchwhitepapers/youtubestatistics/). Merchants can upload product videos to YouTube and create their own YouTube Channel for displaying new product releases, video demonstrations / product tutorials, and video advertisements. 2. TV – There are hundreds of TV channels dedicated to specific industries, niches, and topics (like The Food Network, ESPN, Comedy Central, etc). A TV spot featuring one of your items can immediately catapult interest, traffic, and revenue.

3. Bloggers – Bloggers have dedicated followers, specific areas of expertise, and the ability to generate great content. Try sending one of your products to a blogger asking them to review it in their next blog post. A positive review from a neutral 3rd party can go a long way in providing social proof for the new item.

4. Friends – Don’t forget to show your new products to your friends. Not may they be interested in your product but their friends may be as well. Don’t forget to ask your friends to review, Like, +1, and share your products on social networks. These links can expand awareness and improve your search engine results. Be sure to let them know they can get a discount for doing so with merchants using FacebookLike & Save.

5. Radio – Radio is the one channel that over 99% percent of people interact with each week. It can be listened to from anywhere, anytime, and it enables advertisers to reach a large target market in specific locations. A short 15-30 second verbal message is easy to make and all it takes to get your new product out there.

Make sure you don’t have all your marketing dollars in one “basket” or channel. Diversifying your marketing strategy reduces risk and expands your reach.
