While it is well known that the Friday after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day for retailers with physical stores, it is also a tremendous opportunity for online merchants as well. While many online stores will simply wait for Cyber Monday, or the “real” Cyber Monday (the first Monday in December), smart online merchants will not wait to get a jump on their competition.

A smart Cyber Black Friday campaign will have some or all of the following components:
1.) A “teaser” email sent on Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving that simply mentions to visit the online store on Friday, as there will be special deals not to be missed.
2.) A follow up email on Thursday evening or Friday morning with the specific specials that you are offering.
3.) An additional free shipping promotion to increase order size. For example if you expect your order average size to be $100 during the holiday season, maybe offer free shipping on orders of $150 or more. This concept can work wonders.
4.) Add free products to a customers order if they hit a certain threshold. For example, receive product X for free if you spend $100.

For merchants who use the Nexternal ECommerce Platform, running a successful Cyber Black Friday campaign is simple. The included mail wizard tool makes it easy to reach your customers while the coupon functionality, auto add-to-cart triggers, and tiered shipping calculations allow you to run the promotions necessary this holiday season.

Customers have been conditioned to shop the Friday after Thanksgiving. If you sell online, use this to your advantage. There is no need to wait until Cyber Monday.
