Most online merchants put their product name in the title tag and somewhere in the meta descriptions of their product detail screens. Consider also appending the UPC (Universal Product Code) and/or MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) to meta elements like the title tag, meta description, and image alt tags. While most people are going to search for product names, there are some people that search based on UPC or MPN and if you have those in your meta elements, your site is very likely to rank well in those instances. Those that search on product name might see the UPC or MPN which can also provide additional confirmation that your offer the product they are looking for.
