Many Ecommerce sites offer order and shipping discounts if the customer meets a specific total or buys a certain number of products. However, this can often leave customers doing subtraction in their heads: an unwelcoming task. More importantly, this type of incentive is only effective if the customer is aware of the promotion. It is not uncommon for merchants to display discount banners on their homepage, which can be effective, but once customers begin shopping and adding products to their cart, it becomes their responsibility to not only remember the terms of the promotion, but also keep a running tally of their progress.

That’s where Dynamic Cart Messaging comes in. By displaying a custom message in the always-on-screen cart, the remaining dollar amount or product quantity that is necessary to qualify for the discount is shown in real time, at all times. This is beneficial for two main reasons: The customer is reminded of the promotion throughout the entirety of their shopping session. Secondly, it’s an effective way to incentivize consumers to add that extra product, since at a glance they’re just a few dollars away from a discount.

For Nexternal clients: To activate your Dynamic Cart Message, go to Settings and edit Policies, Addenda, and Disclaimers, then follow the instructions for the Cart Addendum. This will work as a message to outline any shipping rates that have been established as well as any Order Discounts in the Settings section.
