If you were holiday shopping, and you saw the following two listings for the same product, which would you click on?

Balance Max - 1

VS.

Balance Max - holiday (2)

Exactly.

In the holiday chaos, many companies simply forget, or don’t know, that they can and should update their title tags, meta descriptions, and author images for the holidays. When your product listing appears to a holiday shopper when they search Google or Bing, you have a tiny window of opportunity to capture their attention over your competitors on the same page. Maximize that opportunity! Include any promotions you are running in the description or title tag. For example, if a product is on sale, shipping free, or part of any other website promotion you’re offering, then state it in your description. Also, don’t be afraid to make your listing entertaining. Remember that you’re capturing attention! When editing your text, keep your keywords in mind. Don’t get too holiday-happy and forget your SEO basics. Finally, if you’re using Google author tags, update your image with something festive to really help your listings pop!

Happy Holidays!

*If you are a Nexternal client, edit individual categories and product Search Engine Options on each category or product page in the OMS, or via upload. TIP:  Before you change your listings, export your current titles and meta descriptions, and save the file so you can easily and quickly change them back after the holidays.
