In the past we’ve talked about the customer service benefits as well as the simplicity for merchants to offer in store pickup to their buyers. But what if it was even easier? With Nexternal’s new POS/Clienteling app, HighJump Engage, it’s more efficient than ever for customers to pick up their web, mobile, or phone orders on site, whether it be in a retail store, wine tasting room, special event, or any other in person situation.

From the customer’s perspective, not much has changed. They add products to cart while designating them for in store pick up, then submit their order online, in the mobile store, or over the phone like they always have. Merchants will then charge the card and opt to update the order status to ‘Ready’. This triggers an update email to your customer letting them know that their merchandise is available for pick up.

Here’s where things get a little more fun. While you’re multitasking, as merchants often do, the customer arrives. Using the Engage app on your iPad, you can easily search for his or her name, pull up the eligible pick up order and collect a signature. That’s it.

From there, the order in your back-end system is marked as ‘Picked Up’ (by customer name) and the signature is available for reference.
