When speaking with clients, I’m always suggesting reading material that I think may help them understand some of the tips and tricks that I emphasize. For the most part there’s never just one resource that is a good fit for all customers so typically I end up suggesting a few of my favorite online news sources that I think will help their online business.

The sources that I typically scan are not just eCommerce specific but also range in general business articles, SEO and technology & gadgets.

Here is a list of the online news sites/blogs that I have bookmarked:

eCommerce News:
eCommercebytes: http://www.ecommercebytes.com
Practical eCommerce: http://www.practicalecommerce.com
Internet Retailer: http://www.internetretailer.com
eCommerce Times: http://www.ecommercetimes.com

Usability Blogs and Articles:

Kiss Metrics: http://blog.kissmetrics.com
UX Movement: http://uxmovement.com

Search Engine Optimization News:
Reel SEO: http://www.reelseo.com
Search Engine Land: http://searchengineland.com
Search Engine Watch: http://searchenginewatch.com

Technology & Gadgets:
Wired: http://www.wired.com
TechCrunch: http://www.techcrunch.com

General News:
Business Insider: http://www.businessinsider.com
Wines & Vines: http://www.winesandvines.com
NBC News: http://www.nbcnews.com/tech-science

My morning routine consists of a large cup of coffee while I scan these resources. I read a few of the articles and even share a few of them on Facebook, Twitter, etc. I have a limited amount of time before the workday begins so I also utilize a browser extension called Pocket. Pocket allows me to easily add a URL to my reading list that I can come back to and read at a later time. Pocket also has a mobile App so I can access my list via iPhone or iPad when I have more reading time.

Scanning my list of websites in the morning not only helps me to start thinking about business and eCommerce first thing but at times it also inspires me to make the day a more productive one.
