Begin Shopping on One Device and Finish on Another!

How often do you begin shopping on your smart phone and end up pulling the trigger on your PC? Today, consumers move between many devices to shop. In an eCommerce world, it is important to create a user experience that supports all of these devices including smart phone, PC and tablet. According to Brafton News, “More than 80 percent of Americans access the web for general browsing from more than one device, and 67 percent turn to laptops as well as smartphones and tablets specifically to research purchases”. Nexternal’s cart keeper provides the solution at no additional cost.
Here is how it works:
In the Online Store, a customer’s Shopping Cart is automatically maintained even if that customer accesses the store across multiple devices, or multiple browsers on the same device. If the customer can be identified via a preexisting cookie, this occurs immediately upon entering the store. If the customer cannot be identified via a cookie, the preexisting cart appears when the customer logs in; if the customer has added products to the cart prior to logging in, the two carts are consolidated.
The bottom line is that customers are on the move now more than ever which includes customers hoping from one device to another to shop. This behavior creates a need for an online retailer to be present where consumers shop. Nexternal’s cart keeper is the solution to avoid getting left behind!

We are so happy to hear that this feature is working out for you! We appreciate the feedback!
Thanks to Google Analytics, we see that anywhere from 20-30% of our customers are viewing our site optimized for mobile. We know that many shoppers are price-checking with our site while in another location. To see our price, they need to enter the Nexternal portion of our site, and some customers with accounts will load their shopping carts with the item(s).
While many won’t complete that transaction on the spot, most customers will return to their account sooner or later. The items will still be in the cart, so the mobile site works as a “wish list” or reminder of what the customer browsed earlier. We’re hoping that the sale gets completed then, maybe with extra choices added at that time.
Seems like a win-win to us!
