Nexternal has integrated Twitter’s Tweet button into its shopping cart software.   The new Twitter Product Sharing feature is a marketing tool that allows customers to instantly “tweet” about any of a merchant’s products.

The Twitter Product Sharing feature places Twitter’s Tweet button on a Product List and/or Detail screens in a merchant’s online store.  Customers may instantly “tweet” about the product, thus sharing that product with their Twitter followers.  The default tweet includes the product name, store name, a short URL which links back to that product in the online store.  Consumers are welcome to append a message to the default Tweet or modify it in its entirety.

Below is a screen shot of the Twitter Product Sharing feature, taken from the Product Detail Screen. To the left of the red arrow is the Tweet button and amount of people who have “tweeted” about this product.

The Tweet button displays the total number of people who have “tweeted” the product if the Count Box has been activated in the Order Management System.

When the customer clicks on the “Tweet” button, this screen pops up:-

This box allows the customer to customize their tweet and post it onto Twitter.  Merchants can optionally configure the feature to recommend that the consumer follow them or someone else after the tweet is posted on Twitter, making it an effective tool for building a Twitter following.

This is a great social media marketing enhancement to Nexternal’s software.  Merchants are encouraged to turn the feature on even if their company does not have a Twitter account.  For more information about configuring this feature, click here: http://www.nexternal.com/updates/#699
